I'm the PP you're quoting. For my Ker, we did not get iReady results in the fall, but we did get them in the winter and it had both fall and winter results on the sheet. For my 3rd grader I only got the fall iReady results at the Nov. teacher conference and nothing for winter yet. I hear the report card is supposed to mimic the upper grade GPAs - A = 4, B = 3, etc. |
NP - Thanks for this. My DD got a 2 for reading with fluency and accuracy. Does this mean she got the equivalent of a C? This seems odd to me bc I didn’t think it was the expectation that K kids are reading fluently by mid-year. She does read and recognize some sight words. This is confusing. I wish teachers went home some kind of letter with these reports! |
Ugh that is annoying to get a 2 in reading in kindergarten because I didn't think that kindergartners needed to read as a general matter. Did you speak with the teacher at a Nov. conference? Did she have any concerns then? Does your kid know the sounds all the letters make? I would probably ask the teacher why she gave the 2, but I am probably neurotic so take my advice with a grain of salt. |
FCPS parent here - I'm not sure how I feel what specifically to share and how. There are A LOT of specifics on Q2 report cards that I am surprised by. I obviously want to tell DS what he has done really well on and what he can improve on but I don't want the focus to be on report cards and grades so young. Suggestions from seasoned parents? Clearly I'm new to parenting an elementary schooler :)
TIA!
 |

We discussed it briefly in K. We had a more in-depth convo after the first 1st grade one, because it was a bit more substantive. We talked through the sections/subjects and allowed him to look over everything except standardized test results.
