Is it OK to just drop my pennies on the sidewalk to get rid of them?

Wouldn't they be insulted by a bunch of pennies?

How about tip jar at someplace you *eyeroll* that they have a tip jar?

It's bad luck to throw out money. It means you're ungrateful. I thought everyone knew that.

It’s not money, it’s bullshit. A waste of copper.

Please don't drop them on the street, they cause a lot of damage when they fall into grates and down drains, which is what usually happens.

Make a thousand wishes in a water fountain. One of them is bound to come true. Throw the pennies in but first put them in a ziplock bag so they're easy to fish out

I thank you, OP, for dropping your pennies! My kids love finding money on the ground. Finding a shiny penny makes their day!

Lots of places accept donations like this..don't litter..they will end up going down the storm drains into the ocean!

Yeah but I figure copper -- its a natural metal found in the earth, etc.

Please, don't do it. There are a lot of dogs/puppies who will eat them.

Yes, please do. My kids think that my Dad drops them from heaven when they find them

I very much agree. I think it's tied to the fact that we don't let a coin machine make us feel impoverished when we know we aren't.

They also cause a lot of damage because they upset the ecosystem when they go into ponds, the ocean, etc. (they affect the water and plant growth, fish and wildlife eat them and die). Not to mention that they can block pipes, etc. because they are heavy and stuff sticks to them. So please don't toss them.
