Don’t you just want a burger?

A veggie burger or hearty black bean burger would be low cholesterol, but satisfy your craving for a burger.

So eat a light lunch and have the burger for dinner and then have a light breakfast the following morning. If you know you're going to want dessert out with a friend and there is cake at an afternoon office party, pass on the cake. At first this takes a lot of mental planning, but it will become second nature.

My opinion is diets that make any food "not allowed' are diets that are going to fail in the long-run.

This is exactly what I do. I lost 25 pounds almost 10 years ago and have kept it off. I deny myself nothing, but I do make adjustments to be able to indulge from time to time.

Sometimes I crave extra lean hamburger meat. When I do, I just cook it, drain it, and eat it out of a bowl. Satisfies my craving. I always keep some in my freezer for this purpose since I never know when I might want some. Last night the craving hit at about 10 pm. It doesn't affect my weight or anything else. My bloodwork is always great, and I'm a size zero. If you want a burger, eat a burger every once in a while. Live a little.

Yum. This with some chopped peppers and hot sauce. How do you cook the meat?

I have high cholesterol so I also want to lower that through diet. Right now I am flexeterian. I drink a smoothie for breakfast, and eat stir fried veggies for lunch and dinner. After a few days of this I am craving “real food” so I indulge on a chicken sandwich for lunch. Today i ordered a chicken and cheese panini. But I feel guilty since I already had one on Monday. I don’t want the carbs and cheese to increase the omega 6 in my body and contribute to my cholesterol.

You need protein to feel sated linger. Eat an egg for breakfast or quinoa. Have the chicken but less cheese. Stir fried veggies is not enough. Add beans, eggs, avocado, grilled chicken, white fish etc.

This is the opposite of what I've found. Protein is good but eating just protein never ever satisfies me. Fat is important.

That’s not the opposite. The PP noted multiple sources of fat, the difference being some of the sources are both protein and fat: eggs, chicken depending on the cut, and avocado all have a fat.

+1. I’ve started buying grass-fed beef, I season the meat well when I make the burgers, and then eat with homemade mayo, mustard and tomatoes (although hard to find good tomatoes now) and it’s so good. Huge pile of lightly dressed greens on the side and leftover roasted potatoes if I have them—great dinner.

Yes I will have a burger whenever I want one. I don’t do cheese or the fries though. But bring on the bun and toppings.

I feel like you're less likely to fall off the wagon or binge if you allow yourself smaller portions of the food you're craving. Maybe just have a half a burger or a burger with just one of the buns.

You just contradicted want you said.Don't tell me to eat half a burger,Or one without a bun for that matter.when I go out,I don't want to feel like a toddler eating half portions.Does that half burger come with a fry too?If not, then your practically starving yourself.

Ha! I love burgers and rarely eat them, but just had one while to to dinner this week. It was amazing. I got it with a side of veggies and ate those first, but damn, was that burger good.

I aim for 90/10. 90% is no gluten, no dairy, super nutrient dense food. The other 10% is...not.

So if there are 21 meals in a week, 2 can be nonconforming cheat meals. I try to make my cheat meals as healthy as possible, but sometimes a cheat meal is a full on cheat meal. (I had five guys last week). I did a full year with no cheating at all, and one day I woke up and was just over the mental toll that was taking on me.

Burger? No, I want steak! But, for real, nothing wrong with eating a burger, but skip the bun and all is good. I never saw any point in a bun, hate the bun.

You people are all nuts. You are not starving if you don't eat the bun or eat half the burger. Burger with fries and soda is fine, but it is more calories than we need in a day, or even in two days. And even if you eat it all once a week, you are still not going to gain 5lbs because of it. Burger and fries are over 1000 calories without endless refills that add up over 300 calories, when you add breakfast and lunch you are eating well over 3000 calories per day. Are you running a marathon every day? Hunting buffalo? Nobody needs that every day.

I used to make something I called "half-ass chili". I'd defrost ground beef and throw it into a skillet with some tomato sauce and beans. (usually pintos but others will work.) Brown the beef, let everything else get hot and eat. It's especially good with some basil, oregano and garlic and/or onion. (or garlic powder or onion salt.)

I don't eat burgers all the time, but when I do, I really appreciate them. Recently tried the new mushroom burger with truffle mayo or something from Wendy's and it was good.
