Why are Disney rides so loud and scary?

What are you even talking about?

Dumbo? The Tea Cups? Cars? Driving the cars at WDW?

These are little kids, and we were in the section with the little kids rides—-dumbo and teacups—-so my grandkids weren’t the only ones. What really irked me was the cast members not saying if it was dark and loud even when specifically asked.

The point is is that it might be dark and a little loud but when you come out the other end you’re still alive. It’s scary good .

OP mentioned Roger rabbit ride. She's obviously talking about disneyland where the rides are scarier. Read the thread.

In addition, I can’t imagine any reason people would plan a three or more day vacation around this crowded, loud and expensive hellhole. It’s seriously awful.

Good! The more people like you who stay away, all the better for those of us who love it! Spread the word OP!

I think you'll find that at a lot of amusement parks. For what it's worth, Fantasyland at MK is full of rides that are appropriate for little ones.

Just FYI (for anyone else planning with this concern): this website gives a good synopsis of which rides are scary for kids on a sliding scale. Keep in mind that not all kids are the same - some 5 year olds are daredevils, and 10-12 year olds can be more timid.

I suspect OP was one of those parents who also complain about playgrounds full of elementary school students who whiz past her toddler.

OP- Disney is made for many ages, from toddlers to teenagers. You can't assume all the rides are appropriate for your young child.

We just got back (early November trip). Parts of the trip were rushed, but the weather was awesome and DS (6) had the time of his life. It does help to do some research and plan accordingly.

Agreed--I haven't been to WDW with my kids but we did go to Disneyland and I have to agree with OP. Some of those rides, even in Fantasyland, are creepy. Then again, so are most Disney movies so not surprising.

I must be able to predict the future! They just announced they are ending the So Cal annual pass. Thank God.

Pinocchio and Snow White are particularly scary and dark. Snow White even has scary in the title. I was glad when they got rid of it in WDW.

Agreed. And this is from more than 10 years ago. Must have gotten worse now.

So loud, it must be damaging ears, young and older.

Teens go to other parks with extreme roller coasters rides. Disney gears toward younger kids

Agreed.

Anonymous wrote:Amusement parks aren't for everyone, OP. I know my parents would hate it so we never take them! I personally have a VERY low tolerance for crowds, so I have certain rules for amusement parks: 1) Go on low crowd days; 2) Go early and go late. Use the afternoon to nap or eat indoors or do the not-popular things (Philharmagic!); 3) Never wait in any line that says it's more than 20 minutes, unless it is a fabulous ride and you are armed with snacks, in which case maybe 30 minutes; 4) Use whatever Fast Express whatever ticket the place sells; 5) Google in advance to find out where the tolerable food is sold; 6) And then just expect a certain amount of noise, overpriced crap, and crowds and roll with it.
I think those dumb Disney ads do a real dis-service -- everyone pictures themselves skipping down Main Street into the arms of a waiting Mickey Mouse. Whenever my kids see those ads, I say "They filmed that at 5 a.m. before the park opened."

Oh, and whoever came up with that Stitch ride should be permanently banned from the "Imagineer" profession.
There is just no excuse or explanation for how awful that ride is. They've closed the one at WDW now...I can't imagine what took so long.

It is the worst - I’m still angry that I wasted 5 minutes if my life on that stinkfest.

What happened on that ride? Curious.
