Wow, it was a JOKE. So nobody here is familiar with Britney Spears? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elueA2rofoo |

This thread is filled with holier-than-thou, all-mighty elitists who are overtly sensitive and are the splitting image of the rich, out-of-touch people who get mocked by everyone else.
Don't take them too seriously! I got your reference and I loved the idea! |
if an Ivy, a new Jeep would be a proper gift.

THIS. |

An “atta boy/girl” and dinner out with the family to celebrate the decision and the end of the ordeal. |
I am not familiar with Ms. Spears's oeuvre and am widely acknowledged to be a major tightass, and I thought it was funny. Also, OP, celebrating getting in to a place s/he wants to go is great. Ever using the word "elite" except during March Madness is horrifying. |
You're kidding, right? |
| You celebrate as a family with a nice dinner, and then enjoy whatever you would normally do as a family over the winter break without having to stress about the application process. |
First world problems. How about serving soup at a homeless shelter. That would be even more impressive. |
I didn't get the reference, but it sounds like something we wold do. |
No need to wait til college. My kids' high school student parking lot is littered with these. |
I know, right? #thankful #soblessed |
| Bah humbug to the naysayers. Yes, have a great celebration OP. We did when kid got into Princeton as dh and I were poor state school kids. We celebrated the American Dream. |

Wow! So many negative responses.
Our DC got into their top choice, not an elite, and we went out for a fancy dinner and then served champagne at home as well as ordering some gear from the school. Why wouldn't you celebrate your own child's accomplishments? I say party it up, take a trip if your budget allows, whatever works for your family. Your child worked hard for this and of course you should all be proud and want to celebrate the good news. Just don't be obnoxious about it outside the family. |
