So glad I do not live in VA. Great role model for our kids. Have fun explaining that one to your 7 or 8 year old.

I explained it to my 8 yo months ago. He doesn't get why it's a big deal to let people be who they feel they are.

I've explained it to my ds and he doesn't get how someone can magically change their gender. I'm not sure how to explain that, other than to say that's what they think they are. But I don't know how to explain why everyone else is therefore required to pretend that it is so.

If you used magic in your explanation, no wonder he didn't get it.

I didn't use magic. When I said that a man can be a woman simply because he thinks he is a woman, or feels like a woman, he equated it to make believe.

The best thing about this was her response when asked to comment about her victory. She said something like she won't speak ill of her constituents and Bob is a constituent now, so she has nothing negative to say about him.

Seriously classy.

Danica Roem is so unbelievably knowledgeable on the issues. Its amazing. I really think that if anyone can fix 28, she can. Years and years of reporting on PW County means that she knows the issues, the players, how things work, and how things get done. Seriously, I can't think of another local public servant going into office with as much knowledge from the start as she has.

+1

Sounds like she is focused on the issues and has a fresh perspective.

It wasn't advertised. Maybe people who would care didn't know or they just don't care?

She is unbelievably knowledgeable in the issues because she was a reporter? Lol

It's obvious she is getting a lot of love on here because of her being transgender and not her stance on the issues.

She's getting attention because she beat the state's chief homophobe. That's the thing that makes her win such a great story.

But since learning more about the story, yes, she seems to have won on the issues. Which is fantastic. I've seen her interviewed several times over the past few days, and I am impressed. I think she has quite a future ahead.

Above clearly typed by torchlight.

I really don't see why we need to make a big deal out of this.

Danica didn't make a big deal of this. Bob Marshall did. Danica campaigned largely on local and state transportation and infra issues. The plain fact is that Danica is smarter than Marshall, on many levels.

Germany is moving to a genderless society with a new bill to allow a person to select "none" as gender. I don't care about her gender, but whether she'll be more than a flash in a pan legislator. Lots of problem in the Rt. 28 corridor and Manassas for her to deal with. Let's give her a chance rather than are what happened to her penis.

What if I want to list "pipe wrench" as my gender? Because that's how I choose to identify? As a metal tool for tightening plumbing fittings.

Would you refer to me as a pipe wrench? Because that's how I see myself.

Would you? And if not, why?

Don't use faux stupidity to support your bigotry. It's not a good look.

You're being an insensitive bigot by questioning my gender identity choice.

I demand to know why you won't refer to me as a pipe wrench.

You're a hateful bigot
