Who is testing the IQ of their 5 year old?? That seems insane to me |
Very common for NYC kinder admissions. |
No it's not. You should IW already know from when you applied to pre-K before it was too late. |
It's just BS to maintain the pretense. |
Nope This stats are old. Riverdale beats out Horace Mann and Trinity in terms of difficulty of getting in a college admissions stats. Just look at this years instagram for their accepted students. Like half the class is going Ivy. It puts our Big 3 schools to shame/ |
trinity alum here w/ other family at various other top private schools.
here’s the thing: the differences are so marginal. every year, one school might be on top, the next it’ll be another. the only differences between them are location, single sex vs. coed, and school philosophy. they all send an absolutely absurd proportion of their students (including myself) to ivies, etc. If your kid gets into one of these schools, and they do well, they’ll get into a good school. But i implore you: find a school where you’ll kid will be happy. Make that your priority. I’d also like to add that riverdale sucks. Kidding. Sort of. No. Kidding. |
neither are good. |
Riverdale is absolutely tt and likely considered better than collegiate. |
Agreed. Riverdale has a gorgeous campus but my 5th grade daughter has friends from Riverdale, Horace Mann, Dalton, Avenues, Brearley and Chapin and guess what…they are consistently given the same homework. I’m actually most impressed by Chapin and Horace Mann kids… |

Omg hilarious. I’m an HM grad and was also going to say Riverdale sucks. Kidding not kidding. lol. Leftover from HS. |
ditto we applied to many preschools and no one asked for this |
When we applied to schools in NYC the schools used to have their own tests (not WPPSI like DC schools). Yes, even for Kindergarten. |
All the aforementioned private schools are amazing options with fantastic academics if money is no issue. You won't have to worry about teacher-student ratio, etc.
BUT - I would ask you to consider what kind of community you want your child to be raised in and what they think the norms are. The wealth at these schools are outrageous and completely removed from even upper middle class lifestyle. You have the money so your kid will fit in, but you will also be raising them where they think summering somewhere is the norm. Summering, period. Let alone, summering in the hamptons. Don't get me started on skiing. |
What grade? I had/have one DC at Nightingale and the other at Horace Mann for high school if you have questions about either |
