Any actually diverse schools out there? Particularly Catholic?

A lot of people will tell you that minority groups are still oppressed in this country, but those people are wrong. Today, white people are more oppressed than any race. A lot of people want to blame the fact that white people score higher on tests on racism rather than just accepting that white people are smarter, and so do everything in their power to bring them down, even though they earned those scores fair and square.

We're an AA family at Lycee Rochambeau, which is extremely diverse. The primary school kids have recess periods 3 times a day (or 5 times, as DC would say, counting before and after school). There's a strong emphasis on analysis and critical thinking. It's not for everyone, of course, but the school has been a wonderful experience so far.

We are a new AA family at Lycee this year. Our kid's class is very diverse, as mentioned above. So far, we're pretty pleased.

Wondering if anyone has recent experience with St Anthony’s? We live in Petworth neighborhood. Looking for a catholic school with a warm/welcoming community. We are fortunate to be fairly well-off. I know St Anthony’s is part of CCA. Would obviously not want to dilute its mission to provide education for children with financial hardships. Any thoughts on this or any other Catholic elementary recommendations?

Funny to see this post resurface. I'm one of the pps who posted when ny kid was in pk3. They are now in 5th, along with siblings in lower grades. We are still extremely happy at the school. The one thing covid revealed to us was that we are at an awesome school. Not only because we stayed open during covid, but because we, like many parents, were able to see inside the classroom when the school was remote/hybrid (they operated both in-person and remote that first full academic year of covid/2020-2021 academic year). I liked what I saw was happening in the classroom.

I think you should attend an open house to check out the school. I don't want to say anything that will be misconstrued in response to your question about financial hardship. What I will say is that that should not be a concern of yours in any shape or form. Perhaps also follow the school's Facebook page and scroll through all of the pictures. It'll give you a good sense of the school and possibly kill any preconceptions you may have about the school.

Best of luck.

Also check out sacred heart. Similar vibe as st Anthony but Spanish immersion. Both are very sweet schools. Super diverse. Nice community feel. Similar commute from Petworth. I think you’d be happy at either!
