Just started watching it and enjoy the whole family process.
I think they should've done the surgery in two stages with tissue expanders preoperatively, so there'd be enough skin for the external vulva (not freaking vagina that is uttered non stop). Then do the vagina with the peritoneal graft. That whole hospital ordeal was a lot to watch! I also think they did the right thing by using blockers. She looks like a girl, and that is what Jazz is afterall. |
That’s not what his DNA says. |
Really? How would you know? DNA can say all kinds of things. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XX_male_syndrome |
And your DNA doesn’t say you’re an ass. |
| I have a few MTF trans friends who all transitioned much later in life, as young adults, a few years post-puberty. It’s been hard on them. They’ve had to go through a lot of surgeries (none have had bottom surgery though) and hormone therapies, and I’ll be honest, none of them are exactly “passing.” For some trans people, passing isn’t the goal, but it’s what my friends want and they are not there. So transitioning early in life prevents all that and the trans person can easily live life as a woman. I think Jazz’s parents made the best decision they could at the time. If you have gender dysphoria, you’d rather be an asexual woman than to be a sexual man. They want to look in the mirror and see the outside match their inside. |
| I have 2 adult trans friends (mtof) and on their best day it's "questionable" passing. Jazz on the other hand truly comes across as female and I think that's the benefit of early hormonal intervention. Yes she has less skin and anatomy to reconstruct but on the day to day clothes on she comes across as 100 percent female. That would be worth it to me IMO. |

I just saw this show for the first time and find it interesting. Jazz is lovely and I'm happy for her but I also worry that she is a bit of a guinea pig and we'll see what happens. Will she be on hormone blockers for her entire life? What are the implications that go with it? I'm wishing her the best.
I find it so strange that viewers are watching Jazz grow up and who knows how long for? Kind of like the Truman show. |
Sure, if passing is literally the only goal. But the issue is that transitioning as a child has a TON of issues with informed consent, mental health, and physical health. Also that's a HUGE assumption about gender dysphoria and sex drive! Where in the world did you get that from? I really wish that trans gender medicine was driven by actual science and medical ethics, and not by twitter-level reasoning. |
We may be cousins! |
She’ll never have children of her own. Has to dilate a fake vagina every day of her life. Will be susceptible to an untold number of health problems from spending a lifetime on hormones. Decisions that were made for her before she was old enough to understand the consequences. It’s just really hard to se see how this is “worth it”. |
