OP here - thanks for this tip. any idea if Dominion's pricing is comparable with Blue Nile? I just checked their website (very quickly) and there was no pricing available. |
This but not martini. That's dated. Four prong studs with screw backs. |
| I like Dominion a lot too - very helpful staff, plenty of choices but not overwhelming, and in our experience they will do deals with you on most items - the sales tag marked price never seems to be the final price. |
| Does she have any earrings she wears regularly now? That may give you an idea of the size and setting she'd prefer (even if they're a different stone). |
You can get 4 prong with martini. The martini lays flatter on my ear versus the basket. I used to have people telling me my earrings were falling out when I wore basket style (they weren't falling out). |
Martini set studs can often dig into the piercing though. I prefer 4 prong setting as long as the setting is unobtrusive. More securely set diamonds and they feel good on the ear. |

I second Dominion Jewelers. Also check Costco -- their diamonds are very nice.
I wanted small diamond studs a few years ago; I liked the square cut myself. |
| Costco has the best prices on really nice quality diamonds, highly recommend! |
I've heard this was true in the past, but not so much now. |
Still true - take a look online! I love diamonds and have bought earrings and a necklace in the past year, much higher quality for the price than I was finding at local jewelers |
+1. You will pay extra just for the Tiffany name. Not worth it |
| What cut is her engagement ring? I would match that for either round or square cut. I personally wanted my stud earrings to match my engagement ring in cut and size |
This is good advice. |

OP here - just got the 1 carat (total weight) diamond studs from Blue Nile. They look fabulous and by sheer luck, they actually do match her diamond ring.
Thank you to all for your advice and tips. Now I just hope DW really likes them when I surprise her next week. |

So many choices, if you had $2500-3000, where would you buy and what kind of diamond, is it even possible to find a decent 1.0 TCW at this price point?
There seems to be a lot of knowledge on this thread! |
