Sure. No "racial or income rules" explains why there are around 3 white kids at Banneker, and zero at Ron Brown.

Dig deeper, analyze, do some research, exercise common sense, look at the big picture, you can do it.

Racism explains why there aren't more white kids at Banneker.

Without white and middle-class peers in school, I wouldn't have thought to go to college, or if I had gone, I probably wouldn't have graduated, no matter how strong the academics were. Without a diverse HS in my background, college and law school wouldn't have been on my horizon.

I earn 150K and live in a house in which I have at least 700K of equity. I want those boys to have what I have. Sadly, a racially and economically segregated environment in school probably won't put them on a path to prosperity, or integration into the larger society. Wish things were different. So please spare me your holier than thou bleeding heart diatribe. No, I don't like the set-up at the Ron Brown School for Boys.

I also grew up poor and am AA. I didn't have to be in school with white, MC peers to learn the value of higher education. I just needed people who believed in me and would help me navigate the structural obstacles to success.

You are an idiot. How many white families do you really think are applying to send their dcs to these schools? I am certain you can FOIA DCPS for the application information to support your theories. Let us know what you find out.

NP, and I think it has does have something to do with it. When Banneker was originally designed, it was designed with the intention of getting both whites west of 16th street and affluent blacks to integrate and support e magnet school. Whites didn't want to cross the park or go any where near Shaw at Banneker's inception. Many affluent Blacks abandoned it for the privates and the suburbs. Today white parents don't send their kids to the school by stating they don't want their children to be in the minority, or only. So yeah, there is definitely a race factor to why white kids are not at the school.
