The water glasses. OMFG.

My husband has 2 closely space siblings and their parents instituted a limit on the number of glasses in rotation. I believe they identified a certain Peanuts cup from McDonalds.

I'm an only and if I need a water glass, I use it, then put it in the dishwasher. If I need another drink later, I get a new glass. It drives me nuts to see glasses left on the counter.

We have two children more widely spaced, so we'll see how this plays out in the battle of nurture and wills.

I swear to God, there used to be ten water glasses out and about the whole house when the older kids all came over. Then one of the glasses got shattered in my DD's bedroom, and the kids were scared to tell us (for some weird reason) and stowed all the glass pieces in a bureau drawer, where my 5 year old promptly found it. We were just glad no one was hurt.

So then I decided, OK, I'm going to keep bottled water in the fridge for when all the teens come over. As a family of five, we rely on our Brita pitcher for regular consumption. But I am not kidding – at the end of a sleepover, or a long night playing video games, I will find half-drunk bottles of water.

In. Every. Room.

Meanwhile, my 5 year old puts her Contigo water bottle back in the fridge when she's done with it.

Get an office style water cooler.

We don't allow food or drinks in bedrooms so that makes it easier to sweep them all in to the dishwasher.

Not even water on the bedside table? I'm getting dry mouth just thinking about that.

Same here. Their water bottles They use at school also are in full use at home. No difference during the summer and a regular school day. For milk and juice, it's normal cups in the morning and the rest of the day they can drink from their water bottles. They use sport top klean kanteens so they don't spill either and they just keep sipping from the spout from any part of the house. They will have to find them if they are thirsty.

Related: My tween will sometimes take a clean item and put it in the laundry after wearing it a millisecond so she isn't putting it away.
