He has major sensory issues and has a very hard time self regulating. We won't qualify for speech or ot, we already have an iep, and there's no smaller class in our school district. I could push for an aide but that's unlikely. His ADHD is very severe. Medication helps a bit but not totally. And I suspect his iq is probably in low average/borderline. He got an average nonverbal score but the logic and reasoning was borderline (85). That might be the source of a lot of his issues.

This is the rub. Kids might do okay if the classrooms were small and there was appropriate support, but the class sizes are huge. So when a SN school sometimes feel like overkill it might make the difference for a kid who would otherwise self destruct in a typical classroom.

I can't find any messages on Kingsbury's website about where they may be going, but if you think you may be there for more than 1 year you may want to call next week.

Are you sure this is correct? I could find something mentioning a charter and Kingsbury, but it's for a school in Michigan:

What DC charter school said this?

It is Kingsbury Center - LARC program (relatively new program for them) http://www.kingsbury.org/programs/larc.cfm and I've heard very good things.

The Latin American Montessori Bilingual PCS (LAMB) and Kingsbury are in talks about selling the building. The plans, as described by LAMB, would be to co-locate for a couple years before the sale is finalized. Kingsbury would use this time, and the proceeds of the sale, to find a space that suits them better.

Kingsbury isn't going away. It's going to relocate.
