Fortunately, my kid is in FCPS, so I know they will be taught at the appropriate scientific level. I am terrified that someone will think it is ok to start teaching non-scientific items as science. I am not joking. I am very happy with the secular education my child is getting in FCPS. I had previously been involved in legal action based on the teaching of creationism in school -- in another part of the country.

Because you think we should be teaching creationism in schools? Growing up this wasn't even an issue. Why all of a sudden do people want creationism in schools? Crazy times when being anti-creationism makes you a flaming liberal.

Def not worried, but I do find the school sometimes does a half-ass job. But then that's parent's job to remedy.

I'm more worried about what they AREN't BEING TAUGHT.

Cursive, writing assignments, math mechanics and processes, foreign lang. in ES, etc. Too much fluffy time (movies, parties, specials where they don't do enough)... not enough substantive homework.

In terms of lack of rigor, yes. In terms of difference of opinion and beliefs, no. I want my kids to be exposed to lots of different beliefs and opinions.
