Did the work myself two days ago. And I don't get manicures. But I also wouldn't buy a 328i sedan, which is why I think OP should go to the dealer for her car maintenance.

What does this mean??

It means you don't know much about cars, and have bought into BMW's marketing. You are going to trust the dealer more than anyone else, so stop wasting your time, and take it to the dealer.

Not true at all. I'd much prefer to save money and have it done at a service station. I can't imagine having it done at a dealership is any better but I wanted to make sure.

So you bought the 328 because you were saving money. Got it.

If you can't afford to maintain a BMW then you shouldn't drive a BMW. There is a looser in our neighborhood that has been driving a newer BMW with a dented fender for about a year. Another with a temporary spare on his Mercedes for over a month. You are not impressing anyone.

They do it to annoy you. Because you are special!

How many DCUMers does it take to change a light bulb?

3 pages worth. At least.

who said anything about affording it? I simply don't want to spend $400 on something when $100 or less will get me the same result.

Wasn't my decision to buy the car. Regardless it's been fully paid off for years. Why the hate?

You're ridiculous. No one said anything about affording anything. This is a post about if it's necessary to go to the dealer to have one's headlights changed. Calm down.

put your phone down and go change a light bulb

We don't live anywhere near a car parts store. Would require driving to the burbs to buy the bulb then driving home and hoping we can manage to do it.

There are cart part stores in the city......

Unless you already live in the burbs you shouldn't need to drive very far...and what is a 30 minute drive to purchase something that will last for years?

Some people....

P.S replacing headlights is stupidly easy, anyone with access to youtube can do it.

On some cars, it's extremely difficult.

I’ve yet to see a car where changing out the bulb could be described as “extremely difficult”.

On one of pours the driver side headlight is more difficult than the passenger side. I normally take our cars to the service station where they can do it in a few minutes for $20. I did take our Porsche in the the dealer recently and even there it was only $87.

I saw this thread right before I had lunch with my dad who has had BMWs since 1997. He goes to Quality Cars Inc. on Stonestreet Ave. in Rockville if anyone is in that area and is looking for a good place to service it that's cheaper than the dealer. They have specialized in BMWs for decades and have excellent service for much cheaper than the dealer.

Anonymous wrote:It really does depend on the car. In some models it is extremely difficult to open a headlight assembly and replace the bulb. It's not necessarily the same as replacing a bulb above your bathroom mirror. I don't know how difficult it is in a BMW but it may not be nearly as easy as everyone thinks.

I would think a reputable service station can take care of this. If you'd rather use an authentic BMW part, you can order the bulb online or buy it from your dealer, and then take the bulb to the service station to have the actual work done.

I posted the bulb and the video. I know how easy it is, because I have changed them in my BMW.

OP, if you don't want to do it yourself, order the Philips bulb I posted, and take it to a service station. They can do it for you. The Philips bulb is top of the line.

x2 on how easy this is to do generally. One other tip ... if you do it yourself, get some gloves. The oils in your skin will degrade the bulb's life.

Just go on youtube and you can see the video on how to do it.

I use youtube for everything DIY.

Zero. That's so low class.
