What is the quintessential middle class occupation?

Me too. SAHM and IT professional. HHI of $300K. 3 Master degrees between the two of us.

engineers, middle managers, small business owners. anybody who has people working "under them" or who works for themselv, and whose salary is below the 95% in their area and above the 40%.

Yes, but the majority of these masters degrees are masters degrees in education or in the "art and science" of pedagogy. Not academic masters degrees.

Yep, after the real estate bubble burst, the ones who stuck around and survived tended to be the good ones with networks and success.

Same with accountants who have a CPA.

A realtor may make as much or more as a lawyer or professor, but they're not of the same class.

Maybe we need to agree on a definition? Google got me:

"...the social group between the upper and working classes, including professional and business workers and their families."

So, pretty much everyone in DC. except the super wealthy are middle class after all!

I assume he owns his own govt it contracting company. They make bank. Very few IT folks make $300k as technical employees

Probably more like an architect or product owner than an actual developer. . . . maybe started out as developer after college, but moved up and stayed technical. I'm theorizing here
