Pence on Hamilton

He seems like a reasonable, thoughtful guy. Cautiously optimistic.

Pence will be a better president than both HC and Trump.

His kids are young adults. They will be fine. Or are they fragile snowflakes?

His youngest daughter actually describes herself as a liberal. I'm sure he gets an earful from her.

Are you trying to find excuses for a complete lack of decency?

Sweetie, the decency train left the station a long time ago. Right around the time Trump called McCain a loser who "got caught."

GTFO with your faux, shitty morals.

Somehow I doubt McCain would endorse the idea of booing Pence in front of his children for basically daring a win a democratic election...

Sweetie, perhaps you need to go to Sunday school to understand what decency means?

Vice President-elect Mike Pence said he was not offended when he was booed by members of the audience while attending the musical "Hamilton" on Friday.

In an interview with "Fox News Sunday," Pence said it was a"great, great show," and a "real joy to be there."

"When we arrived we heard a few boos, we heard some cheers. I nudged my kids and said, 'That's what freedom sounds like,'" Pence said.

At least one of them gets it.

I abhor Trump, and have a major side eye to Pence just on the basis of disagreeing with his political stance on almost everything, but standing ovation to him for this, truly. That is the appropriate response from the White House to this incident.

+1 !!!

So it's come to this...standing ovation because one person in the new administration knows how to be a grown up. This isn't standing ovation behavior. This is a basic talking point that anyone who staffs anyone in Washongton would know how to write. It's just that the new "normal" is so awful-whenever anyone is able to rise above a Twitter war we are all astounded.

Except for all of his policies, yes, he is.

You really think they won? Okay.

It's not just the words; it's also the way he handled himself. There are many politicians who wouldn't have been as confident and patient with the childish rudeness that was displayed towards him with his family in a public place.

+1. And I can guarantee you if something similar happened to President Obama coming from a right-winger on stage (unlikely for an actor, but let's suspend disbelief for a minute) ranting about big government policies and the fear that Obama's going to take his guns, begging him not to expand executive power or whatever, the left would be up in arms.

At the end of the day, he's a politician so shouldn't be and wasn't apparently surprised, but let's not pretend Democrats wouldn't be losing their minds if this happened to the president.

...like when he was heckled at the State of the Union? This isn't a left/right thing. Many (most?) politicians could handle some (gasp!) booing. Obama included. Pence doesn't need a medal or an ovation for it. It's just that his response seems so extra-special classy because the standard he's compared to is Donald Trump.

This has happened to the President. All the flipping time. Most recently at an HRC rally where an attendee went on a rant against him. Obama, the grownup president, told the crowd the guy has first amendment right to his opinion and moved on. Exactly no liberals got their knickers in a twist.

Or what about the time that lunatic went on every TV show that would have him ranting about Obama being Kenyan? Obama stayed off Twitter and released his birth certificate. Liberals rolled their eyes. I hear Obama went on to invite said lunatic to his home and behaved graciously.

They added they word adulting to the OED this year. Trump should look up. (Ok-- ask someone who can read to look it up).

Here's the scorecard:

Pence = 10/10, for attending the show, listening to the crowd and then the actors, and his reaction on Fox.
Hamilton cast = 8/10, for making a statement they felt strongly about, waiting til after show with respect for the paying customers.
Hamilton audience = 5/10, for (some of them) booing a good man, but certainly not getting out of hand.
Trump = 2/10. Dude, get off Twitter.

Well, like Hillary, I'm sure he has a public and private position on issues. And I, too, would have liked to have been in his head that moment. lol

This isn't a twitter war. It was bizarre rudeness.
