What age appropriate for movie sausage party?

I watched it with my 15 and 22 yo and agree, it was lewd and had some unfavorable stereotypes. Kid thought it was boring and we laughed about the sex scene. Personally, I'm much much less bothered by sex and lewdity than by violence, so to me this is not as bad as R rated slasher or horror flicks.

It's rated R. My DH decided let our 6 and 4 year olds watch it. I think it was about 20 seconds into the movie I heard the first "MotherF*%^&". Before found the remote I think I heard a few more. It's really not for children at all.

It's rated R for a reason - appropriate for 17 or older.

Ratings exist. Use them. Parenting-problem solved!

I would bet his friends have not seen that movie.

Ha! This happened to us in 2nd grade when one of the Fast and Furious movies came out. DS said his friends had seen it so I asked around. Turns out his friends were lying (or maybe their parents were lying when they told me their kids had not seen it).

What kind of kids is your 12 year old hanging out with?

My 11 year old in middle school hasn't heard of such movies.

I know 8. Year olds who know about it.

My 13 year old son wanted to watch with his best buddy this weekend I said ok but then five minutes in he said let's not watch this and they watched a Bourne movie. Sometimes I find saying this movie is pretty crude etc but ok they change their minds - you take away the forbidden fruit part of the appeal.

To add, the title should probably say "Sausage Party" because I actually thought you were asking "when is it okay to host a sausage party?" LOL

LOL - I was wondering what kids did at a "sausage party." I thought making your own sausage after watching a movie was a thing now.

Oh please. Yes he has. Unless he literally never leaves the house and has no friends.

I believe it, lived the in suburbs, no car, parents had total control over what I did, including my friends. No cable. I was not able to see an R rated movie until I went to college

Yeah, but now there's the internet and YouTube.

It's a lot more difficult to control everything your kid is exposed to now. For this to happen you'd have to make sure he has no computer, phone, tablet access without parental supervision. Even wifi access at the public library or Starbucks would require you to hover over his shoulder at all times. Of course, that assumes zero access from friends, which would be the easiest route.

I just watched it. Hell no to my kids seeing it until they are adults.
