I am working on it.

How many languages do you speak?
Are you fluent in all of them?

I speak 3 fluently and 8 conversational.

Psst - its a way to bash the soon to be First Lady without making an outright thread in the political forum to do it.

Classy.

I can only hope this will mean that FCPS won't kill its language immersion programs.

I speak "educated woman who can support herself without having to marry a misogynist."

I speak 5 fluently. Have to mention that her English is not that great. She has been here long time, so I doubt she speaks French or Italian anymore or even German unless her father spoke it when she was growing up. Little googling and the Italian she so spoke has disappeared from the list.
Slovenian and Serbian? No plus points for both.
If she was great at Italian, she should've changed it to Spanish long ago since it's the 2nd language here.
I lost German and picked up Spanish. Easy switch.
She is from Europe. Most of my European friends speak 4-5 languages coming out of high school.

Trump's wife isn't running for president. What does she have to do with the price of tea in China?

I speak 5 languages, three at native level. And I have never felt the need to marry someone accused of rape (by Ivana trump) and sexual assault (too many). Additionally, I have never plagerized anyone's speech before.

I speak English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

Yes, I am European.

I speak 5 also, fluently.

English, Latin, Sanskrit, Aramaic, and Old Norse.

And I'm working really hard on attaining fluency in Ancient Egyptian. So hopefully I'll be able to say that I'm fluent in 6 sometime soon. (fingers crossed).

I will have you know that Slovenian and Serbo-Croatian are not the same language! No, really, they are not. I was going for purposefully dramatic there! LOL. However, they are very close and you can order in Serbian in Slovenia and even young people who haven't studied Serbian in school will understand you. When Mrs. Trump was growing up it was mandatory in schools to learn Serbo-Croatian. And also those are not two or three different languages, Croats, Bosnians, Serbs, Montenegrins can talk all they want, they speak the same exact language with a few different accents and dialects. The nonsense over how Bosnian is different language than the other two is just that, insecure nonsense. But, apart from that I also speak bunch of languages,(also not that good anymore since I am here and don't use German and French almost at all) and yet my English is almost perfect, making me think, she barely studied it in school, and probably took German and French instead. All of my "Yugoslav" friends here speak English enormously better than she does. She should have applied herself more, it is not that difficult.

What's your point, OP? You understand that Melania is from Central Europe, right? In Central/Eastern Europe, it is very common for a person to speak multiple languages. This is not an indication of intelligence, just the result of living in a tiny country surrounded by other small countries, all of which have different mother tongues, so it is necessary to speak more than one, and you are exposed to more than one from childhood. English, as well as other languages in addition to the local mother tongue, are taught in schools here as well.

I have lived in Central Europe and Eastern Europe for a decade, and I know plenty of non-college educated people here who speak 2 or 3 languages. Our cleaner, for example, speaks Russian, Polish, and English. Many people who work in shops and kiosks speak English. The prostitutes who mobbed my visiting brother last week when he went into his hotel bar all spoke fluent English, in addition to the two local languages.

So speaking multiple languages in CentralEastern Europe is very normal. It doesn't indicate superior intelligence, or even an unusual degree of discipline. I think Melania is very beautiful, but the woman is a college dropout who is clearly not bright, and the fact that she--a Central European--speaks several languages means nothing. Try again. She does have great hair and a pretty face. Her clothes are nice. But she isn't smart.
