Dinner parties with couples

We usually invite kids and have th eat at a "kid table" unless they are too young to eat without parent help. The kids typically take about fofteen minutes to eat, then run and play. One tip if you decide to do this is to make sure you have things kids can easily serve themselves. Fruit plate and chicken is easy. chili with all the fixings is not.

We get a sitter, and she and the kids stay in the basement and have their own dinner down there.

PP here who doesn't like parties. Maybe then it becomes just a party and not a dinner party Who knows.

I think there are some married couples who feel some strange need to have "couples" events.

I can get together with my girlfriends for lunch, manicures or shopping. I like to be gracious and entertain. I enjoy my friends' husbands but it certainly would not be appropriate to hang out with them one on one. Dinner parties with couples allows the genders to mingle in a non threatening, gracious way.

It's true - we often break up into same-sex sub groups and go from there. For some reason the men go drink beer and play music(al instruments) in the other room and the women drink wine or liquor and play a board game.
