In theory, if he did win the election, the Electoral College members who were supposed to vote for him could instead all vote for Pence or someone else, and that person would instead be elected president.

OP here- thanks for the response. He needs to quit.

If he really cares about the country, he will quit. Otherwise, he is guaranteeing a win for Hillary, who is intent on opening the borders and turning us into a 3rd world country - while her grandchildren, of course, will go to the most elite prep schools in Manhattan, on to the Ivy League, and then a life in an upper-upper class bubble.

While Trump's grandchildren live in the projects and go to public school in the Bronx.

If he quits, Hillary will still win. She has a widespread get out the vote operation and been running a sharp, organized campaign. The GOP is completely in disarray.
"Replacing" Trump on the ballot (if even possible) will not be your answer.
GOP voters are dimwits in the first place for ever supporting his candidacy.

I understand what you are saying. There were so many GOP candidates that the vote was spread out. I am a republican and did NOT vote for him, nor do I support his candidacy.

But was the GOP primary vote ever really spread out? Trump seemed to thump the field pretty solidly wherever he won.

Pence has released a statement in which he says he will pray for Trump's family and that he looks forward to debate where trump can "show us what's in his heart." Spoiler alert: it's a bunch of gold glitter and old hustlers.

Also-he spoke after the audio came out yesterday acting like this was a non issue. Now that he sees that's not going to fly he's all wobbly lipped about the poor Trump family. Eff him.

NP. I think the issue with GOP voters was not just the significant number that voted for Trump, but that the rest of them were seemingly so unwilling to work toward a compromise candidate and consolidate around someone who wasn't Trump to nominate instead. Everyone had to have their way, their person, and what you had as a result was chaos that handed it to Trump.

Yes. This is exactly it. There were too many, and they were splitting the vote. ALL the 2nd tier candidates (you remember...the early debate) should have stepped down, and then half of the top-tier should have done the same. (They could have made deals with the drop-outs for Cabinet positions or whatever as enticement to step down). We could have had Trump against, say, Bush or Rubio. Trump wouldn't have stood a chance. But they were all too pigheaded. And the result is we get an Alinsky-like president, with a big dose of corruption and lies baked in.

I am sick of people referring to GOP voters as dimwits. FYI: The majority of GOP voters did NOT vote for him in the primaries. Also, lots of DEMOCRATS did vote for him. The only dimwit here is you. You have admitted to suppportong the only Democrat who possibly could lose to Trump. You should have used your primary vote more wisely. And, you made a dumb comment.

Regardless of what you think about Hillary, I would be astonished to learn that anyone truly thinks trump cares about the country. Trump cares about making money. And fame. That's about it.
