At what age is it okay to leave a kid in the car for a few minutes?

+1 I fear this much more than I fear someone snatching my elementary aged kid out of a car.

No, OP specified it was to *drop off a younger sibling* which means that the older sibling is the one in the car. Hooray for reading comprehension!

Honestly - about 5 or 6, especially in the winter.

I figured it was probably more likely my baby would choke on the dry cleaning bag than freeze or over-heat in the car in 5 minutes (I went during the day so there was never a line).

Baby and toddler? No.

My kid was 7 when I ran back in to get something I had forgotten in the house. I have assigned parking and it's about 50 feet to the house. Our neighborhood. He was almost 9 before I left him a few minutes to get iced coffee in a DD. (Parked so he was in my sight. He was more interested in the iPad). None of this has been over 5 minutes yet. He will panic of something goes wrong. So he's not ready fyet r more. Baby steps.

He is 9+ and he is THAT coddled? Time to cut the umbilical cord.

You're ridiculous. Just.freaking.ridiculous.

I hope you don't have young teenagers. I pity them if you do.

When they can open the window or car door by themselves to let in some air.
