Wheaton? Opinions? New to the area

Anonymous
I have a friend who lived in Wheaton until very recently. Not sure if I ever asked him specifically, but I think he and his wife liked the area fine enough. They're both professionals with graduate/professional degrees. Their kids were in local publics, but there weren't satisfied with the schools and ended up enrolling their kids in private. (They've since relocated for work reasons.)

Sorry for above typos--typing quickly so I can go grab lunch.

Heaven forbid you live amongst the working class!

I live close to Wheaton and it is fine. Diverse mix of people, with more Hispanic residents than many areas in MoCo. It is redeveloping and is much nicer than a decade ago.

On the other hand, we live in the area because we are dual feds and it's near our jobs. I would not live here and commute to Alexandria unless there were compelling reasons (to be near family, to be near a religious community...)

There's nothing wrong with Wheaton but why you would want to live there with one spouse working in DC and one in Alexandria is totally random.

Never heard back from OP.

Maybe just a troll out to stir sh*t on Wheaton. Why she doesn't have better things to do, I don't know!

I assume so. Why on earth would a couple working in Alexandria and DC want to live in Wheaton? It's convenient for neither of you.

probably a lot of elite foreign fake liberals who rent houses to druggies/homeless/trashy people in wheaton. I would avoid

Outside the Beltway Alexandria in Fairfax County is a lot more expensive than Wheaton, I think.

The suspects actually live in Gaithersburg, they may be hiding out in Wheaton. Personally, I feel safer in Wheaton or Aspen hill than I feel in parts of Gaithersburg and Germantown. That's why we bought a house near Glenmont.

There's no Beat'in Wheaton!

We live in Four Corners in SS - close to "downtown" Wheaton. I don't know the area but will say that there are some fantastic dining options there - two great thai places, a good ramen place, a really great Peruvian chicken joint, and many others. So it's got that going for it.

?????? The suspects are from Gaithersburg. The crime happened in Gaithersburg. So- they are (were?) in Wheaton. Criminals hide everywhere.
