I sincerely believe that for whatever reason, most conservatives do not get satire. Remember when they book Colbert
for the correspondents dinner not realizing his character was a parody?

I think the reason is, if you are close minded and judgmental, you stop learning and adapting. So you cant be that sharp without constant learning. No wonder they dont get really sharp and slick parody.
