My 3rd graders loved Pippi this year. You can get abridged copies of classics, like The Call of the Wild. It is good for cultural literacy. |

| Vocabulary is a little more challenging, but my DS recently loved "The Mysterious Benedict Society," which is a 4-book series. I read the first one and really enjoyed it myself. We have also enjoyed reading aloud "68 Rooms." |
