My son also did a week of this this summer and loved it. He also loves the regular KAH camp and is enjoying it again this year. I just can't say enough good things about KAH. For the Travelin Teens, my 10-year old (going into 5th grade) was part of the "JV" group. The counselors paid some extra attention and kept closer hold on them than they do for the "Varsity" group. The basic KAH includes lots of activities, outside time, water play, field trips, etc. My son comes home tired and dirty pretty much every day.

OK- going to try again- my original post got deleted for some reason?? My kids ages 8 and 10 took a class - Fairfax Collegiate- it was two weeks. Both kids loved it despite is being an academic camp. They even asked to go back. This was the chantilly location.

DS, 6yo, absolutely loved British Soccer. He is not a great player, and they really worked hard to make him feel part of the team.

My 4yo is loving Burgunday Farms. Lots of outdoor time and swimming, the counselors are very warm, and they seem to do lots of fun stuff. He comes home happy and begs to stay in after care with his friends!

My 7 year old has had a great couple of weeks at Sandy Spring.

For sleep-away camp, my DD loved her 2 weeks at the Burgundy Center for Wildlife Studies. She was so sad to come back home and wants to live in the woods always.

We are trying Burgundy Farms for the first year this year. The first week got good reviews from both of my boys (6 and 4).

Does anyone know if any farm type camps for the preschool age?
OK with half day or full day.
We are in Eastern Moco but ok with Howard.

My kid loves animals so wondering for next year if she can do something involving caring for them.

Can anyone please suggest for a good drama camp in northern Va for 8-12 years old.

My kids haven't actually gone, but I've heard good things about the Mount Vernon Community Children's Theatre camps. We live in the area, and several friends have gone. Looks like they still have two more 2-week sessions and one more 1-week session this summer.

Any reviews of Norwood or Bullis for pre-K?

LOVING Summer Horizons camp at NPS (National Presbyterian School) in Tenleytown for Kindergarten. All staff knew DD's name after the first day and she has come home begging to have her counselors and CITs babysit her. The facility is really nice (including huge, fully-stocked classrooms and a great playground), they're super-organized, and have had fun activities every week (moon bounces, STEM specials, dress-up days, field trips, etc.). They walk to AU for swim lessons and I like that I get a written report about how the lessons are going. Highly recommend!

American Inline's bike camps are great! We did it through Arlington Parks and Rec and know friends who did it through Fairfax as well. Our 6yr old went from being very wobbly on the bike to being a confident rider in a week's worth of half-day camp.

Definitely would recommend it!

+1. It's just a way to make the base cost seem less. Since the sticker tag gets separated from the real cost of using the program.

I'm a former camp manager, though I didn't set hours or prices for my camp. 3pm was "full day" because that's what the kids are used to with school. For an active camp--which most are--the kids were ready to go home/have the downtime of aftercare by 3:30, when the pickup period ended. Most of our campers went home by 3:30, though we did have 2-10 in aftercare until 6, depending on the week. The time is for consistency of schedule, not to pad the price.

I this were true then you wouldn't charge so much for the 2 hours extra that can sometimes be close to between 1/3 and 1/2 the cost of the camp fee.
