Sister got engaged right after me, married right after me, now pregnant right after me.

Really OP? It really feels less special? Everyone is glum about it?

OH NO PRINCESS. Now your engagement, marriage and child and completely worthless. How dare she!!!

Sounds awesome - you two have more to share!

It will be really fun having similar aged children.

OP- no one can plan exactly when their life moments will happen, they just happen. Enjoy your growing family!

But BIL said they started trying about two weeks ago.

Wait! She's 2 weeks pregnant?!

Sorry, OP, but I agree with the others. My younger brother, older sister, and I all ended up getting married the same year. Not really anything we planned, but it was fun to have so much to celebrate. And it really is a lot of fun having cousins close in age. My sister and I have two who are a month apart in age which has been great!

My nieces are like this. I don't know which one is worse, but they are both narcissist in competition. When my dad died they posted all this nonsense and pics online bereavement site. He wasn't close to either of them, lol. They used this event to try and upstage his own kids, it was something. Years ago I went to the younger nieces wedding paid for by a parent who couldn't afford it. She had like 9 brides maids.

OP I know exactly what you're talking about, your sister has a problem. All you can do is ignore it.

Wow. Pot meet kettle.

It is going to be so much fun to have cousins close in age! That was one of my favorite parts of childhood. For awhile we had a baby or two born every year in the family. SUCH fun. Cheer up OP!!

You're still very special, don't worry.

Haha, thanks for the laugh.

Anonymous wrote:Shortly after my DH and I announced our engagement, (about a month) my sister announced hers. I was excited for her, and glad that I had someone to share the prewedding planning with. Fast forward to the actual wedding planning and her wedding was just a few weeks after mine was. There was a slew of drama that came up because I wanted similar colors as she did(really stupid), and I was trying to "get my wedding done quicker to out shadow hers". Got past that, and shortly after I found out I was pregnant. Just had our kid 10 days ago, and now sister announced she's pregnant.
Is it normal for it to just happen this way? It feels like she's following in my footsteps as quickly as she can. She's older than me, and said she still didn't plan on getting pregnant for a few years as to finish school. But BIL said they started trying about two weeks ago. I just don't understand it, it has been making it feel less special to not only me, but our family to be going through so many congratulations so quickly.

Yes. Normal.

You are being mean. There is plenty of love to go around - it is not a zero-sum game.

There were four babies born in our family the year I was born. Someone should have planned better, I guess.
