| Wooly Balls all the way. I occasionally put a few drops of essential oils on them when I'm drying towels. |
| OP with an update. Washed the comforter in my front loader which fit no problem. Used a small amount of detergent and some vinegar. Added an extra rinse cycle. Smelled horrible when it was done washing! Apparently this is normal and will disappear when completely dry. It's drying now, on it's third cycle on low. I hope it will be done soon so I can go to bed! |
| Next time, take it to Zips. They get them done quickly and well for $20. |
Yes, it smells terrible when it's damp! You have to be sure to break up the clumps between each cycle. Be sure to dry it thoroughly -- I thought you said you were waiting for a day off to do it??? |
Also, dry it on high. If that scares you, dry it on high for 20 minutes at a time, letting it cool down for a short time before starting it again. HIGH. |
| I don't know, but I need to know how to freshen down there without washing. |
| OP again. I think it's just about done. The smell is gone, thank god! I dried for about 2 hours on low, then turned it to medium for about 30 minutes. |
Hmm, make sure there are no clumps in there. If there are, keep drying it. |
| OP again reporting from bed. I added 15 minutes on high at the end to make sure it was thouroughly dry. I'm pretty sure it is. Didn't see any clumps or wet/dark spots and smell is gone. Shook it out to fluff it up and put my duvet cover on. Cozy in a clean bed now. Thanks for the advice and to all who encouraged washing! |
Kudos to the OP for all the updates! |
| Glad it all worked out and you're now sleeping in a cozy bed free of old sweat and dust might remains. Enjoy! |
