Singapore/Dubai without Kids

There is a third hotel in that complex too. I don't recall the name.

They are all fantastic. You can't go wrong.

Location wise it's pretty good. Easy to get everywhere from Deira to Downtown to the Marina to the desert. Cabs are plentiful and cheap.

The only Palace Hotel I know is down by the Burg Khalifa right on the fountain. It's part of the souk al behar. Nice hotel. Great Thai restaurant. I would stay at one of the Madinat hotels, though.

Saw this posted to my Facebook today- reminded me of this thread regarding some reasons some have for not traveling to Dubai (including myself).

These housemaids tell their story of being beaten and harassed by their male and female employers, wages withheld. If they leave they end up in jail where they are abused or raped and have no rights and cannot testify against employers for rape or wage withholding. They have zero legal recourse.

I doubt any tourists nor ex-pats living privileged lives over there would see the atrocities hidden inside the luxurious homes and buildings.

So I guess NYC, DC and Lindon (along with just about everywhere else is out). Of course abuses occur. They occur everywhere. That is a very unfortunate and very true reality.

Please let everyone know where your Utopia is . . ,

So if an abused household worker in DC or NYC managed to escape, they would be thrown in a prison where they will likely be raped and have no rights or legal channels to testify against their employer?

I'm sure there are cases of abused household workers here, but it certainly is not the norm nor is it a problem that compares to the magnitude of the issue there. But go ahead and bury your head in the sand.

Enjoy Dubai, where you can be arrested for simply being a woman waiting in line for a taxi: http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/us-woman-jailed-for-insulting-united-arab-emirates/ar-BBrCCM3?ocid=sf
