Good "neutral" to paint walls for selling home

I haven't used it since 2010 and ordered some shutters in that paint. It's not considered an off white any more?

Yeah, what's up? We changed the color of our trim in 2009, and it was basically a choice between White Dove if you wanted an off-white (barely off-white, according to my designer, but it looked pretty cream to me) and Cloud White if you wanted something white but warm.

What is there for me to believe in anymore?

Our walls are BM Revere Pewter except in the cheapest paint possible and the color is lovely (the quality of the paint not so much, I can't clean the walls without the paint discoloring).

Found recommendation from this blog - her paint colors are spot on. :

She also has a post narrowing those recommendations down (and the ones to stay away from) - to a top six list.

I've taken her advice on a couple of paint colors for our new house and she's been right every time.

Good luck!

Note that she also says not to paint north facing rooms white:

"One common mistake is painting a dark room bright BRIGHT white thinking that it will make the room look brighter. Often, it just looks gray and drab because north facing light is blue-gray. I don’t recommend white for most dark and north facing rooms, but if you do, I would try one without the gray but instead warm undertones usually work best."

Yes - mainly for BRIGHT whites though, I think. In that post she says she did a client's darkish north facing room in BM's ivory white and it turned out great, and if you dive deeper into her blog she has done a few other north facing rooms, and rooms without a lot of natural light, in Cotton Balls which have turned out well.

Our home is a mid-century modern with loads of windows and light pouring in on the top floor but the bottom floor is built into a hill so it's darker.

Thanks so much.

I am madly in love with Swiss Coffee. It's a warm white and is so soothing.

Muslin by Benjamin Moore. Neutral but warm.

You're right, she does approve of warm whites, but not off-whites with gray. FWIW, we had cream colored walls in our north facing living room and it still just looked dull. I prefer an identifiable color in rooms without sun, not something where you wonder if it's white or cream or just needs repainting.

I agree and we repainted our creamy white walls in a north facing house.

I painted a dark room in Dove White and it looked awful. Repainted it a very very light grey. So much better.

I don't think white brightens dark spaces.

BM Sparkling Wine. A very pretty off white/light cream.

We bought our house last spring. It was painted light gray with navy accent walls. Not my first choice- but we are living with it for awhile. I would have painted an all White House pretty quickly. When we were looking- it did make a house pop to not be the same boring decorator white. Didn't change our opinion or make us buy- but it stood out and sometimes that might give you a bit of edge.

Benjamin Moore Abalone (2108-60). I tried about every grey and beige color in our new house. Abalone is the perfect neutral for both dark and well lit rooms (we have it in both). Also LOVE Farrow & Ball Elephant's Breath but probably too expensive for your purpose.
