Burke "wish I had known"?

Yes - Algebra 2/trig is now a 9th grade class.

As I understand it every year a few of those advanced kids also choose to do geometry over the summer or on-line or with a tutor outside of school so they can then follow a path to do ALL the AP classes Burke offers as described above. Many kids instead do SOME of the AP math classes and go on to engineering or math-related degrees at stellar elite universities.

Bottom line seems to be that Burke tries to meet kids where they are - strengths and challenges, even if it means having one kid in a class one year they will do that.

I graduated Burke in the late '90s (now have small children---just lurking here) and even though that was ages ago, just have to echo what many posters have said. Very supportive, meets students where they are and many other good things. And space was really cramped back then before the addition. Much better now. Objectively, I was a higher academic achiever than many class mates in social sciences and humanities but was consistently challenged and excited by what I was learning. At that point they had arrangements for some advanced math students to take classes at GW and UDC---they do work with students. Ended up going to selective liberal arts school (had the option of any ivy but it wasn't for me) and now have a fulfilling career in nonprofit management. We live in Arlington and will probably try for HB Woodlawn for our kids, mostly because it reminds me of some of Burke's best qualities. So anyway---this opinion is out of date, but just wanted to say I loved that school.
