I wouldn't start stirring the pot unless you know the real situation.

What's the story from the inside?

that she wants a more prominent position - one that's more global

What does that mean? She has a very prominent position.

IBO I assume.

This is not true at all. Jennifer Hoover loves RM, and the IB magnet program and the kids. She would not leave unless she is forced to. If you have been following closely all MCPS magnet program coordinators and principals are being promoted out because of their strong support for the program and its integrity. This might be another case, if it happens.

Half of the kids (if not more) are popping Alderall to stay up and handle the workload. I think the new principal realizes most of the kids are completely overwhelmed. There is also many new studies showing that AP classes are not what they thought they would be and it is not preparing kids for college they way they initially thought.

??? you on drug?

This is a parent problem, not a kid problem.

The parents are nuts. And while they may SAY it was their child's decision to enroll, I can't imagine how upset parents would be if they heard their child say, "I just want to stay in my neighborhood school and just BE!"

so glad my kids are not part of the pressure cooker - I've seen enough children on meds who were eventually hospitalized or who became school phobic. b/c THAT'S healthy

pathetic, foolish parents

exactly, why are you on this thread?

I HIGHLY doubt it. I am sure she is being pushed out by the principal.

She is one of the hardest working Magnet coordinators I have known. I predict that the diploma rate is going to fall, because to keep the senior focused after they get into college to take IB exam and write their dissertation? Its just not going to happen.

She is known to send "Hoover-grams" to RMIB seniors before deadlines...at hours that only RMIB kids keep! She is very clued in to what is going on, and very on top of things. She is quite pivotal to RMIB's success. Very hard working lady who is really invested in the program and cares about the kids.

+3 (for three kids)

It is so easy to judge someone without knowing - however anyone who knows her will vouch with her at RM what an amazing person the RM IB kids have on their side!

The kids get Alderall from people who sell it. It is very common in RM IB, Blair, Churchill and Whitman. Not all parents realize their kids are taking narcs to help them get thru school with little sleep.

Someone has to be the voice of reason.

Why on earth would this lead a kid to change her mind? The IB coordinators are bureaucrats who fill out paperwork for the IBO, not teachers. Good grief.

Blair's coordinator used to be a Magnet teacher. He is also an administrator there. He is very present and much better than RM's.

Better? How? and How would you know that?

No one is picking on Blair coordinator. No need to be defensive.
