Thank you for pointing this out.....the OP is probably one of those that thinks cops have quota's. If there is no points currently, then pay the ticket and get it over with. He is in no danger of having his license suspended, so bite the bullet. I doubt your insurance will go up much (if at all) for something like this. |
| Okay DCUMoms and Dads, I recently got a Failure to Obey a Highway Sign in VA too. Clean driving record I don't want my auto insurance to increase. I live in MD, and I was returning from a travel soccer tournament in Fauquier County. Followed Waze, that took me on a service road, didn't see 15 MPH sign, cop pulled me over for allegedly going 30 mph in a 15 zone. My son was in the back passengers seat, I was super polite, even asked him why there is a 15 mph zone and he said the neighbors were tired of HS students speeding down their street after football games so they lobbied to get that sign. He was parked on the side, clocking people on a Sunday morning 10 AM. Would you pay or show up to take a chance the cop won't show or ask the judge to dismiss based on clean record, no moving violation for over 10 years. I could even say guilty with explanation but don't know what I have to lose since this would stay on my record for 3 years |
| He failed to obey the posted speed limit sign. Pay the fine. Officer was being nice. |
Happy thanksgiving! Poor driving choices have. |
^^consequences. Was he speeding????? |
If you are a good driver as you claim to be then having this on your record is really of no consequence. Sounds like you also lucked out as the OP did and got a lesser citation than you deserved so you should be grateful and pay the fine. Not sure why the neighbors of the school wouldn't want slower speeds on their residential street on a Sunday morning too - if you were returning from a game at the nearby school they are probably fed up with speeding MD drivers on weekends too - I know I am. You have no grievance or injury here - you were caught speeding and given a lesser citation. Be grateful this region largely tolerates your behavior and pay the fine and next time pay more attention to the road and less attention to your phone. |
This. Many years ago a New York State trooper gave me one of these for 70 in a 55. When I sent it back saying I would contest it, I received a letter that said the charge had changed from the failure to obey break he had given me to speeding. Then I went to court and lost. Just pay it, people. |
As a fellow driver, I rejoice in dh's award! Slow the eff down. |
OP, if this was on one of the many roads where up to 10 MPH over is routinely tolerated, I think you're justified in feeling stung. |
Judges don't dismiss cases because you have a clean record. |
