| English has a perfectly good gender neutral pronoun: "it". No need to make up silly new words. |
| Why do you care what other people call themselves if it doesn't affect you? |
It DOES affect others.... that is precisely the point. This law REQUIRES that OTHERS call people what they choose to be called, or suffer the consequences, which in this case, is an outrageously hefty fine. I could care less if someone wants to be called a dick, but if I refuse to call them that, I should not be prosecuted for not doing so. |
And what if you just can't tell the sex? Or intended sex? |
| So glad I don't live in NY. |
Not sure where you are. But if it can happen there, don't think it cant in VA or MD. Especially in VA these days... At least MD has Hogan now. |
Calling someone what they want to be called doesn't affect you. You would only suffer consequences if you chose to be a discriminatory jerk. |
Sure it does. It means you're accepting their insanity. No thanks. |
We have freedom of speech and the first amendment in this country. The NYC law sounds unconstitutional. Also, does the trans person get to dictate how people describe them when they aren't even present? For example, if the speaker is talking to his wife at home and is discussing the trans person and says "he" instead of "zhe," should be be prosecuted? It's nuts. |
| So cumbersome having to wait until words are spoken to fine people. Once we have mind-reading technology, will we be able to screen people for non-politically correct thoughts and ship them off for reeducation? |

| This thread makes me want to move to Montana, find a home on 30 acres, and hide from society. |
"It" refers to animals and inanimate objects, neither of which are likely to work with you. |
+1000. |
Hilarious. I'm with the other poster, time to move to the middle of nowhere and get away from people like this. How in the world do you actually believe this drivel? |
