Do other husbands cook?

Nope, never. I had him put rice on to cook the other day and gave him step by step instructions and he still tried to mess it up. He is excellent at take out though and does 90% of the cleaning and 70% of the laundry. We are both happy with the arrangement.

My husband cooks Monday through Thursday nights. I cook Friday through Sunday.

He didn't cook the first decade or do anything else regarding household or kids, for that matter. Eventually I had enough, because he was also acting out in other ways. When faced with losing me, he started the painful process of growing up and began pitching in with household, kids, and cooking, and a couple of years later, he's getting to be a pretty good cook. It's a freaking miracle, actually.

Mine cooks every night because he likes doing it. He's also more efficient at cooking, but not so much at cleaning. So he cooks, I clean up after. He cleans as he goes if there is some down time while food is in the oven or simmering or whatever.

He used to cook regularly when I worked longer hours than he did.

Now I stay home with the kids, he prepares breakfast, and cooks his native dishes (about once a month).

Mine is 50+ and still sits at the table waiting to be served! My teen ripped him a new one yesterday when he said he didn't like what I cooked. (I get home from work an hour after he does.)

My husband does about 85% of the cooking. He is a better cook than me. I appreciate that he cooks dinner often

Nope, save for scrambled eggs and BBQ.

I'm happy with this arrangement as I find cooking kind of meditative and it's something I like to do to unwind - even if it's rushed, or in the morning for slow cooker meals.

If I asked him to, he would though. We have enough balance with other stuff and I don't feel like cooking is a burden so it works out fine for us.

He's a better cook than I am, and cooks more often. He did Thanksgiving (I made the soup and tended to the details - he did all the cooking). He cooks most nights - I'll make dinner 1/2 times a week.
