Oh god

I've been struggling with a gift for the director -- I absolutely love ours. I know most people just give to the teachers, but does anyone that DOES give something to the director have any good ideas other than a gift card?

A bottle of wine. That's what I'm giving my daughters' preschool director. I know she likes it and I didn't want to do a gift card.

Damn some of you all give big gifts! My kids attended a home daycare and we gave gift cards out but I think we did $50 to the main person and $25 to the assistants. However, we also had to pay tuition for the weeks we weren't there so she basically was getting paid $400/week for two weeks without having to actually watch my kids over the Christmas break and then again for a week over Easter break. I guess I kind of considered that her bonus. I'd probably have given more by way of a "gift" if I wasn't shelling out the extra money for that.

Do you consider your paid vacation from your job a bonus? Or are you paid hourly with no PTO or holiday pay?
