Can I make a quick plug for a friend? He's giving a free concert on Dec. 5 in Rockville at St. Elizabeth's Church with the NIH Philharmonia. He's playing the Emperor's Concerto (Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5) and Brahms' 4th Symphony.

When my sisters and I were little, going back 35 years, my mom would occasionally go to PTA mtgs. So we'd be stuck home with the father that we then affectionalty referred to as "the meanie"
Well, he decided to introduce us to the War of 1812 Overture and we were literally jumping off the walls, to what became known as "the boom song". I think my wild 7 and 2 year old may need the same introduction. |

Also Holst's Planets. Seven different movements. I have a couple of favorites but really love them all. |
And if you're listening to Holst, find First Suite in E-flat. I really need to walk away now and fire some of this stuff up! |

Shostakovich for String Quartet No 8 in C Minor, I think is the title. Not classical, but so haunting. And anything by Aaron Copland. I want to cry at Grover's Corners and Fanfare for the Common Man. |

Smetena, the Moldau
Vivaldi, Spring from the Four Seasons |
I love Vivaldi too - I clicked on the link and apparently I had listened to that upload before (along with 82 million others). My favorite is Bolero by Ravel. I particularly like this rendition, the addition of vocals at the end brings more power to the music |
