As a child I recall my parents wanting to buy a Volvo because they felt it was the safest car. Anyway you look at it, a person is safer in an accident in a car than on a motorcycle. When one decides to drive a motorcycle they should be aware they are at a significantly increased risk in an accident. I can't control what another driver does on the road or whether they are here illegally and driving without insurance and hit my car, but I can choose to drive in a safer car. Very small cars and motorcycles do not fair well in an accident.

I saw a motorcyclist this morning on the same Rockville Pike close to NIH. He/she was weaving in and out of lanes. AND one of the 'lane' was the sidewalk. The person rode on the sidewalk and when there was an opening, he/she went into the lane, right in front of me. And you couldn't hear or see him coming from anywhere. I didn't even have my radio on.
