Do you guys ever talk about anything even slightly non-mainstream in the entertainment forum?

I am going to see the Red Hot Chili Pipers. I don't know how punk they are, but I'm guessing there are slightly non-mainstream.

I hadn't heard of them, but just Googled them. Where are you going to see them? They aren't punk, but could still be fun. I love bagpipes. There is a guy I know that is putting together a podcast of bagpipe songs. I have to make sure he knows about these guys.

As for Scandinavian death/black metal, I've been listening to Alestorm. Do they count? Also, I was at a meeting at the Fillmore when Ghost was doing their sound check. I hadn't heard of them before that and can't say that I immediately became a fan.

I'm not a Ghost fan and don't understand the hype.

Ever hear Graves at Sea?

I just listened to a few Graves at Sea songs. I hadn't heard of them previously. They are probably more to my son's tastes than mine.

I posted on your thread - I love the Mahones.

I also started a thread about the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 remake. It didn't get many replies, but I wasn't expecting that many.

We saw the Mahones four times last year. That wasn't really planned, but just how it worked out. At one of the shows, they dedicated "Girl with Galway Eyes" to Maria. They just released a new CD and I am credited on the liner notes because I contributed to their Kickstarter. Also, now I suddenly feel like a starstruck high school kid.

But that's the only one I can think of right now.

Hey! That was my thread. I have acquired so many new favorites from the advice I got there.

I love documentaries and I started that thread too and there were a lot of obscure suggestions in there.

As for the opera and other fine arts threads I've started they've gone no where.

I think this forum is more for water cooler gossip and trash talking reality shows which is perfectly okay! I love to do that too.

As for the OP. Smug much? Start some threads or look elsewhere.

I listened to a couple tracks. Good stuff. Nice textures.

I love you. Now, next up. The LP Forest television, by Lesbian. That'll keep you busy. ?

Only listened for a few minutes so far. Pretty cool. Would be great for a drive across a remote landscape. Thanks for the suggestion!

I can discuss Cascadian black metal! But I do especially like some doom.

As in Woods of Ypres, Agalloch, and Wolves in the Throne Room?

Yeh, Ash Borer and Samothrace. First being black metal, second doom. And Anhedenist, they were amazing. Aldebaran.

It's a 48 minute song. It changes many times and ends quite dramatically. I know the band, the worked on that piece for years and I was lucky to see it live several times.

Wait, there have been threads on opera and fine arts? Alas, the stuff you miss.

I have some homework to do! Thanks.

Curious, are you male or female?

Deafheaven is playing at the Howard Theatre tomorrow.

Female. Almost 50. I have eclectic music tastes and love so much, but I have soft spots mostly for classic 70's, all types of psych, and metal.
Oh, Sunn and Asva. Are you the same person. I'm discussing Lesbians' s Foresttelevision with, upthread? That's me , too. I'm in Seattle.

Nope, not me. I'm also female, 36. Guess I won't be seeing you at the show then! Ha.
