While the entire neighborhood was outside trick-or-treating including children from families who are way more prominent then theirs, my nieces and nephews were inside with sad faces looking out of the window at the rest of the children outside enjoying themselves.

I really do not know why my brother married that bitch. I have never cared for her. Never have. Never will.

Just offering my nieces and nephews a simple stick of chewing gum turns into a huge fucking argument with her.

I do not know what my brother was trying to prove by marrying her but he did and the in the end our entire family ends up losing.

FUCK THAT BITCH!!!!!

OP, you're just another whiny SIL! Don't call other women bitches because if you do that, the only bitch is you.

Your brother is free to marry whomever he wishes. You don't have to like her. You don't sleep with her or go home to her every night.

Obviously, your DH is fine with it and doesn't give a sh*t about what you think about his DW or their (yes, he obviously agreed to the anti-candy policy, so the proper pronoun is "THEIR") anti-candy policy.

If you feel differently, conceive or adopt your own kids and raise them the way you want to raise them.

When it comes to the way your brother and his DW want to raise THEIR kids, STFU!

No, OP is right. It's hard to watch children suffer because their parents are trendy idiots.

The parents are "idiots" for not letting their kids gorge on junk food? The children are "suffering?" Talk about your first world problems.

Wow, I see the OP touched a nerve here. You must be the DIL that is disliked by the family, probably for going along with whatever your hardline edicts are.

You sound like such a lovely charming person, I can't even imagine why so many dislike you. Hunh.

Sounds like you're the MIL who didn't get to choose her son's wife. Take time to talk to your son about why he made his choice, then accept it and grow up. Finally.

If she is this unyielding for Halloween, then Thanksgiving and Christmas must be a nightmare.

Yeah that's sadfor the kids, but you sound like you are off your meds.

You are getting criticized because your insults and side-issues (prominent families, really?) are worse than your SIL's behavior. So instead of violently ranting on here, why don't you suggest fun things your brother can do with his children on Halloween? From going out ToT'ing but without the candy; to going away on a fun overnight trip. That way, at least you'll be HELPING your nephews and nieces.

So then SIL can please everybody by spending those holidays with dear friends.

Maybe he married her because she's just as crazy in bed as she is outside of it.

Although I agree with your general premise that crazy fucks good, I disagree that this particular kind of crazy - holier than thou, obsessed with organic food, concerned with degrees from the best private schools and universities - is usually in that category.

OP-- i totally get where you are coming from. I also hate my SIL. She is infuriating, and now I am starting to hate my brother, too. They are very arrogant, even when they know not of what they speak. They look down on my side of the family. But they sure do their own douchey things.

Whereas you are non-judgmental and loving...

Do a lot of women hate their SILs?? I just have a BIL so I am curious....

I don't think so. There's less at stake so whatever disagreements you may have with your SIL are naturally a lesser deal than any disagreements you'll have the grandparents of your children. Sure, there are exceptions, of course.

I generally like my two SILs. There are some things I find annoying or off-putting, like asking to borrow money, but it's just a less emotionally intense relationship than with a MIL or FIL.

Yeah my wife is like OP's SIL. No one in my extended family likes her either. I'm not a big fan myself.

I agree.

Me too. She's only half of parenting here.

If DCUM is any indication outrage is a fully-renewable resource. She can be outraged at both.

Nanny here- My bosses won't let the kids go see Santa, as in they've never ever 'met' Santa. It really upsets them and it just seems dumb to be hipsters about holidays just to be cool. It's cruel. But I'm not paid for my opinions so I just shut up and do my job with a smile. The kids are allowed to trick or treat but they can only keep one piece of candy.
