Lice in elementary school

Lice Lady is right. For the PP who said "don't you check your kids?" , I WAS checking my kids, closely, but not with the special lice comb. I didn't see ANYTHING until I used the special comb. Now, I've found two freaking bugs and some nits. This, after weeks of lice notices from our school. And my kid had her hair in a bun for the last couple weeks. There's no avoiding it.

Potomac Elementary checking in. Not a bit of lice here. We don't have that sort of thing in Potomac.

In the past, I used to alert other parents in the class about it, but I won't do that anymore, as my child was teased mercilessly by the other kids (even after I said, the second time around, please don't share the name with your child or, if you do, remind them to be kind....) I felt terrible because, after the first time, my child did NOT want me to share the information, but I assured my child that the kids were a couple years older and that I would specifically ask the parents to not share the information. My child said that wouldn't work, and apparently my child was right. So I won't be sharing that information with class parents again!

God, people are so shitty!

I wish people would text or email when their kids have lice! It would be so useful to know when to do a full on combing. One of my kids get bad dandruff/dry scalp and there is no way to just casually check for nits, you have to check every piece of hair and inspect every whitish/yellow speck. It takes a really long time just to check. Its the worst.

The one time we had lice (x 3 kids), the OTC stuff (Rid) was a complete joke. I feel like the FDA shouldn't even let them sell it. Its false advertising and people are soaking their kids in pesticide for no reason b/c that shit doesn't kill anything. Lice were doing zumba on our kids' heads after the OTC treatment.

I also want to know if the tub comb out with the lice comb and conditioner will get all the nits, too.
