Go for it! It's totally harmless. We allowed DS to pierce his ears on his 13th birthday. He is 17 now and Wears them almost every day. Just small studs. He is going to get a 2nd hole pierced in his left ear for his 18th birthday. Remember, it is just a tiny hole that can close up if he decides he no longer wants it. The care process also teaches responsibility. Maybe set up an incentive for him to get it as we did. It was B average for DS it worked of course. Good luck
