I didn't prep, but don't care what others do. If they prep their kid, kid gets in and does fine, why do you care? Does your kid's percentile matter then if your kid got in and theirs did too? |
By what, one point? If a kid is that close but doesn't make the pool, he or she would get in on appeal. Invalid argument. |
|
"One point" referring to how much the norm plausibly would be "bumped" down by the impact of test prepping.
Test prepping does not add more than a few points to any given child's scores. Not all children prep. Spread those few points over the entire number of kids taking the test, and the statistical impact is marginal at best. |
| why do people complain about prepping. Please stop complaining about prepping. If you don't want your kid to prep don't do it. Don't complain about prepping. Others think it is an advantage and as far as I know most people do prepping and some people admit it and other don't |
Yes, this. I think the people who complain are those who want a scapegoat when their child isn't admitted... or they are lying about not having prepped, to make their child sound better. |
+1 The central screening committee knows how to spot prepping. There is no need for community hazing. |
LOL.... what difference does it make? There's nothing wrong with studying, no matter what you call it. |
Exactly. The central screening committee will do their job and exclude obviously prepped kids. |
|
The "central screening committee" sounds so USSR....
Anyways, you spout nonsense. They certainly don't exclude prepped kids. My kids study and work hard (prepped?) we supplement and got in with no drama. The criteria for selection are published and do not include "no prepping". |
Only quoting what was stated by Carol Horn. Hardly nonsense. |
Link? They're certainly don't. Where does FCPS say not to study/prep? |
Carol Horn stated the central selection committee knows how to spot prepping. She said it at the FCPS education conference last fall. |
|
This thread touches on the fact kids had the exact copy of the test. That's not prepping; it's cheating. World of difference. |
The wording used by FCPS was "prepared for the CogAT" |
