| See the derm, definitely. Mine told me that it's much harder to clear up acne the longer it goes/worse it gets. I wish I'd started as a pre-teen. |
| I can't believe I am writing this but after 3 years of going to the derm (tried 2 different ones) and multiple medications that didn't work, we got desperate and tried proactive. It solved my son's acne problem very quickly. |
There is a correlation between diet and kin issues just as their is between diet and many illness. Food us medicine. |
If the acne is cystic, no diet changes or topical "remedies" are going to touch it. Cystic acne calls for accutane. I don't know if OP's child has this kind of acne, but both of mine did and everything else was a complete waste of time. The only thing that finally got rid of this kind of acne was accutane. |

As someone who suffered horribly from acne starting at a very young age (9), and took three courses of accutane to finally be satisfied with my skin, take your kid to the dermatologist ASAP and start working on a treatment plan.
