have you ever surrendered an animal to the vet?

My vet's office has done this on occasion. They will just find an animal that they find special and take them on while they look for a home. There is usually at least one old cat in the clinic that becomes the "clinic cat" for a while, wanders around the whole office, and gets free vet care until they find the right home for it. Sometimes it is a person who comes in and has to put their animal down -- and the clinic cat just sits on their lap at the right time.

If the vet made the offer, I would take him up on it. It sounds like the best possible scenario. If they can't rehome the cat, they will put her down in a humane way when the time is right.

PP again -- and all the clinic cats have significant health issues (which is why the owners wanted to put them down in the first place). They still find homes.

There are some vets who have a house kitty. A pet that roams the office, sit & sleeps on the counter. I always enjoy greeting the kitty when I come in. The staff put it to bed there in the office when they leave at night.

Op, if the vet offers, I wouldn't second guess how this is going to work. Assume it's going to work!
