| NoMa is a total shithole but you should be fine if you are only working there. Living there is completely different. |
Worked there for the last year and it's great. I am very careful after dark, though. But I was also held up a couple of years ago at 17th and K street, NW at 7:30 PM, so proof that you need to keep your wits about you always. But during the day and normal business hours NoMa is great - lively, places for lunch, and very safe. |
So, how is working for CFPB?
|
Ha ha! I don't work for CFPB. Non profit in NoMa. But good guess! |
I have a negative opinion of employers who lease space in incredibly expensive areas and then claim they don't have the money to offer better health insurance or parental leave or other basic benefits to their employees. |

Would regularly work late at my office downtown DC before they moved to NoMA. Now, I do not. Women at my office have been harrassed while walking to Union Station. I make sure my working hours are close to daylight as possible. Have felt safe. That said-- I agree the recent crimes are troubling.
NoMa is... ok. I wouldn't live there. I wish there was a Vida or somesuch gym. |
Capitol crossing project to the west of NoMa has already started. http://www.nbcwashington.com/news/local/3rd-St-Tunnel-Project-Will-Bring-Four-Years-of-Construction-242634131.html |
There is a Vida at City Vista on K St NW and 4th NW. It's not a long walk. |
