| Dutch colonials look like houses wearing hats, with holes cut out for their eyes to see through. |
|
Our Dutch Colonial looks similar to this--wide front porch with roof that kind of slopes downward over the porch. So I guess there are different sub-categories of Dutch Colonial:

I like Dutch Colonials, even modified, more modern types. I may or may not live in a vaguely styled Dutch colonial.
Dutch Colonial = Amityville Horror house. Still like the style. |
I think this house is so cute! I would go for it op, especially if the interior and neighborhood are nice too. |
Yes that one is cute. Most aren't adorable like that and were built in the 60's-70s. |
| I love love love dutch colonials. |
|
I love the real, traditional ones of wood or stucco that were built pre 1920s. If it is newer or made of brick or some faux siding, I would hate it. A brand new one made to look like the old classics, with high quality materials could be nice.
Truth is, I dont like much of anything anything built in that 1950-1990 era. Most is awful and cheap. |
| I've always loved Dutch Colonials. So cute! I'm surprised to learn on this thread that not everyone loves them. |
| I like the look of Dutch Colonials. In many cases, I like them more than just a box-y, plain looking colonial. We don't live in one, but would absolutely consider one if we moved. |
| I've always liked them. |
| I like them! |
Me, too. I'll always regret selling our 1930's Sears Dutch colonial. |
Exactly. Like that Fat Albert character with the hat over his eyes. I think they look so funny they make me laugh out loud! "Why don't we make the roof come down farther?" |
| I think they're cute, but I also think of the Amityville Horror. So I'm not sure how well I'd sleep in one. |
