What caused you to bring your child to the ER?

Stitches, hit in head w/ sports equipment by another child, high unreducing fevers/dehydration, nursemaid's elbow

(surprised how common this last was on the thread as we'd never heard of it. Another poster described it as "scary," and we were scared at first as the child can't move the hand on the affected arm properly, so we were worried it was broken. But, there was no associated pain which was confusing. It's also a very easily fixable condition by physical manipulation and can be done in a doc's office. So in retrospect, not so scary. )

1. At 18 months he was standing on a chair, fell backward, cut head open on chair. Required staples.
2. At 2 years, slipped on the ice and broke his leg-had his leg wrapped in a splint and ace wrap.
3. The next day we were back in the ER when he grabbed the little metal clasp holding his ace wrap on and stuck it in his mouth. He swallowed it and made some gasping choking sounds, even though he was breathing fine, I drove him to the ER just to make sure the clasp had not gone down his windpipe. He had an xray that showed everything was fine.
Now we've gone 8 years without an ER visit

I'm sorry, this just made me laugh so hard I almost peed my pants. I mean like you didn't have enough going on that week with him breaking his leg. I can totally see my son doing something like that, he is only 6 months old but he is a maniac.
