And for the record, this isn't BS because BS has 3 K classes with 20 kids each and "private school mom" cites her school has 40 kids in K. |
Ha, that is good. What is rather sad about the OP's comments is that s/he gives short shrift to a child's home life, that a child will only succeed if s/he is in an independent school. S/he is really denigrating his/her own role as a parent. Parents, especially in these early years, exert enormous influence over their children. It is not delusional to say that most Lafayette children would probably have high WPPSI scores (or are above average as mocked by the OP). Most come from homes with highly educated, engaged parents. Barring extenuating circumstances, that is a major factor in a child's success. Why do folks who live out of bounds strive to have their children attend Lafayette, Janney, etc.? Because they know the children come from relatively stable homes where a high emphasis is placed on education, that the vast majority of children will arrive at school each day ready to learn. Mind you, parents of all socioeconomic classes value education. Unfortunately, poverty and pressing economic circumstances can have adverse effects on families and schools and create chaotic living and education conditions. And we can see from the OP's comments that a high household income doesn't necessarily correlate with common sense. |
PP The best posting on DCUMs. Ever. |
Geez, thanks! |
Great post 10:09
I don't think it was the OP that made the rude comments it was another poster. The OP was actually trying to figure out how to make a choice. |
This thread was recently brought to my attention. So, I have just read through it -- can't say that my life will be better off for it -- and have some information to share. Apparently, someone decided to wind you all up (I'd give them a 5 out of 10 in terms of success). I suspect that as far as the anti-Lafayette poster is concerned, there is no half-million dollar HHI, no $1.25 million house, and no kids in private school. But, there may well be a cat involved. I don't know the poster's motive but I do suggest you don't take the posts seriously.

Yes, you are right. Apologies to OP. |
Well I hope the OP still considers Lafayette. |
