Okay, so where is DS/DD going to go to college next fall?

It's one of the Claremont schools. People who know anything about higher education know about Scripps.

The Claremont Colleges are well-known to educated people, and carry their weight in networking gold out in California. Your student will receive an excellent education in one of the most beautiful west coast college settings.

I am from the Chicago area and had a lot of friends go to Marquette - they all loved it!

I agree it is a great choice for a DC area kid.

Ha thanks for the reassurance. I just thought it was funny how it combined some of the things often looked down on on this site - Catholic, not Ivy or anywhere near equivalent, and in the dreaded flyover part of the country. All kidding aside, he loved the campus, loves the idea of going somewhere a little different for college, and they had the direct admit physical therapy program he wanted. So yup, I agree it's a good choice for him!

The cool guys went to Marquette (lots of fun there) while the nerds went to Notre Dame.

He is going to love it there.

Physical therapy is a great career too! Good for him!

When I lived in California years ago, I always thought that the east coast had the fortune of so many great universities, but I now see that a number of my friends' children are eager to experience the great west coast universities. It is wonderful to hear of all these California admissions, but once your children get used to the good life out there (it takes a year or more to acclimate to the hot, arid, dusty climate and topography, before you can see and appreciate the true beauty of it), they may not come back!

I always think it is good for kids to experience a different part of the country. I was a California Girl, born and bred, and my first choice was Georgetown -- and I stayed here. My DD is only a junior but is looking at schools in California and Great Britain!

That reflects more on you than on Scripps.
